I have despised the minivan since the day we bought it. We only got it because the kids were so excited and loved it so much. NEVER take your children car shopping, it will not end well! The minivan was cheaper than an SUV that would fit us all, so we decided to go with the car the kids chose. We've had the minivan for something like five or six years. I try my hardest to never drive it! I made the van Rob's car pretty quickly. But, now that we have the monster truck (that I WILL NOT drive) I am looking forward to that stinky, dirty old van!
The van has taken a beating over the years, mostly due to the kids, but I have hit a few poles in that thing too. When we first bought it I had to use it to drive to Santa Barbara for work. I stayed in a hotel while I was there. The morning I was going to leave for home I met my brother for breakfast. He was living in Santa Barbara at the time
About three years after that I hit another pole. This time our van wasn't so lucky! I was driving the girls to school one morning (when we were living in the mountains) and I was really tired. Rob NEVER puts gas in any of the cars so I had to stop and get gas on the way to school. I don't know what I was thinking but as I pulled into the gas station I hit the pole, you know, one of the ones I was talking about earlier, at gas stations. I hit the pole, big time. I smashed a pretty good portion of the passenger side rear door. The thing is, as I heard the crunching of car metal, I kept going. I didn't stop and try to back up, I just kept driving. After I parked at the pump, I got out to look at the van, that's when I noticed something...the gas tank was on the OTHER SIDE! I smashed up our van and I wasn't even on the right side to pump gas! It was super embarrassing. I ended up leaving and not getting gas until later.
We have used that van for a lot of trips, too. So, while it has been beaten to heck by our crazy family it has also taken us so many fun places. I am excited to drive again. I hope I remember how!
